I’m Jessica Bigger and I have lived in Humboldt County California since May of 2000. When I first moved out here from Michigan I didn’t know what to expect, but soon discovered all the great qualities that make Humboldt such a great place to live. It’s the lifestyle that attracts so many to our great community by the sea.

The Humboldt County Lifestyle

Things are little bit more laid back here in Humboldt County and that’s what makes us so unique compared to other communities in California. I have many friends who lived the fast paced life in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles, who after discovering Humboldt County, made a conscious decision to move out here for a slower paced, relaxed lifestyle. You won’t be stuck on the highway in a traffic jam out here! But you will find a lot of great amenities that you would find down in the big cities.

If you are considering moving to the area you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of homes available that you should have no problem finding the right home that meets your needs and some, if not all, of your desires. We are by far the most affordable coastal community in California. So even if you can’t afford that multi-million dollar home by the sea *(Ocean View Estates), there are plenty of homes that are only minutes from the beach with peeks of the ocean that range in price from $250,000 to $350,000.

As I mentioned before, each city is different. There are communities that are more progressive and add quite a bit of flavor, while others are more conservative. Same goes for location. If you’re the kind of person who wants to live out in the country without feeling like you are more than an hours drive away from civilization, then you’ve come to the right place.
